Eon and RWE Outline Key Steps to Revitalize the Energy Transition

E.ON and RWE propose a restart of Germany's energy transition, recommending the abolition of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) in favor of a market-based

framework.
They suggest a "grid traffic light" system to manage grid capacity and advocate for a smart meter rollout led by distribution grid operators.
Expansion plans should reflect realistic demand, and grid charges should be based on peak load. They also call for pragmatic approaches to hydrogen and offshore wind, focusing on market-driven solutions over strict regulation.
ENVIRIA equips KION Group's distribution center with solar

ENVIRIA will install a 980.1 kWp solar system on KION Group's distribution center in Kahl am Main, covering 17,000 m².
It will generate 975,000 kWh of green electricity annually, with excess power fed into the grid. KION will secure the power through a long-term PPA without upfront investment. Construction began in February 2025, with grid connection planned for summer.
ENVIRIA handles financing, installation, and operation, enabling businesses to transition to solar power easily.
Meta Secures 200 MW Solar Power Deal with RWE in Texas
RWE and Meta signed a 15-year PPA for the 200 MWac Waterloo Solar project in Bastrop County, Texas. Meta will purchase 100% of the solar farm’s output to power its regional operations and data centers with renewable energy.
Construction begins in late 2025. This is RWE’s third recent PPA with Meta, totaling 574 MW across Texas, Illinois, and Louisiana. RWE operates over 180 US plants with 11 GW capacity and has 4 GW of new projects under construction. The deal supports Meta’s renewable energy goals and local economic growth.
Bavaria's Solar Curtailment Surges in 2024 Amid Grid Challenges

In 2024, curtailment of photovoltaic systems in Bavaria more than doubled, with 71% of Germany’s curtailed solar capacity coming from the state.
Nearly 981,000 MWh of solar power were not fed into the grid, costing around €90 million, up from €26.5 million in 2023.
The Green Party blames the Bavarian government for delaying grid expansion, despite rapid solar growth. Their master plan calls for faster grid expansion, better grid connections, and incentives for grid-friendly solar and storage systems to address bottlenecks and prevent further losses.
Dresden Authorities Investigate Multi-Million Euro Solar Fraud
The Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) and the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office are investigating two suspects for alleged solar project fraud causing at least €4 million in damages.
The 60-year-old managing director and the 63-year-old authorized signatory of a Dresden-based company are accused of offering turnkey photovoltaic systems since 2020 but failing to deliver the agreed services, including grid connection. Searches in Dresden and Radebeul led to the seizure of evidence and company assets. The managing director is in custody following an arrest warrant. Investigations are ongoing.
Enerparc Secures €266 Million Financing for 400 MW Solar Pipeline

Enerparc has secured €266 million in project financing from Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) to develop 400 MW of ground-mounted photovoltaic systems in Germany. The agreement includes €216 million in secured financing and a €50 million revolving credit facility.
The long-term facility, with a term of up to 24 years, supports both the construction and operation phases. Projects will be implemented through EEG tenders or PPAs. The financing, structured as a portfolio approach, ensures financial stability and flexibility for Enerparc’s solar pipeline over the next 24 months.
